Plans
So sometimes I find myself wondering what my life will soon bring, or why I'm in a hard situation here and there. I do what I can to follow God's plan for my life and not get caught up in my own selfish plan. Sometimes I can't help but wonder if I'm missing something, or if I made a wrong turn somewhere, or if I'm completely not living out the plan God has for me. I think it would be totally crazy for me to NOT wonder that though.
On a related note, I often think that I need to "hurry up and live my life." What I mean is that sometime in the future I want to get married, have kids, buy a house, you know, all that stuff. All too often I feel like I'm "wasting time," and should be trying harder to make all this stuff happen sooner rather than later. But then I'll realize that I'm just getting caught up in all my selfish "plans." Thinking about this stuff reminded me of the song "In the Blink of an Eye," which I've never REALLY paid close attention to, but I've heard the chorus a few times. I checked out the lyrics tonight, and they go something like this:
"You put me here for a reason
You have a mission for me
You knew my name and You called it
Long before I learned to breathe
Sometimes I feel disappointed
By the way I spend my time
How can I further Your kingdom
When I'm so wrapped up in mine
In a Blink of an eye that is when
I'll be closer to You than I've ever been
Time will fly, but until then
I'll embrace every moment I'm given
There's a reason I'm alive for a blink of an eye."
BAM!! Leave it up to me to always get caught up in my "plans." I'm grateful for this song for putting things into perspective. The time I spend on Earth is really minute in the grand scheme of things (afterall, it's like the blink of an eye, right?) I hope I can remember this and focus less on the "here and now" and more on God's big picture.

Verse(s) of the week: PSALM 91:14-16
"If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God, "I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you, then throw you a party. I'll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!"
